BUCK HILL SKI RACING PROGRAMS
DECADES OF LEGACY
Buck Hill Racing Programs have been built over decades of success, countless hours on snow, and a long list of athletes who have gone on to compete at the highest levels of ski racing, including Olympians, World Cup racers, state champions, and collegiate athletes. But here’s something worth remembering: Nobody starts there.
Every racer who has ever stood in a start gate at the Olympics once struggled with ski boots, missed gates, forgot course inspection details, or wondered why ski racing involved so many early mornings. Champions aren’t born in the finish area. They’re built one turn at a time.
That’s why Buck Hill’s Ski Racing Programs are designed as a progression that allows athletes to develop skills, confidence, discipline, and resilience at every stage of their journey. And no, chasing the Olympics is not a requirement.
Intro to Ski Racing
Where Confidence Begins | Every racing journey starts somewhere.
Intro to Ski Racing introduces young skiers to the fundamentals of ski racing through drills, directed free skiing, and introductory gate training in a fun and encouraging environment. The focus isn’t on results or race times.
It’s about building confidence, learning proper technique, and helping young athletes discover that skiing through gates is a whole lot of fun.
Because before athletes learn to win, they need to learn to love skiing.
D-Team
Building the Foundation | D-Team is where many Buck Hill racers truly begin their journey.
Athletes continue developing strong skiing fundamentals while increasing their exposure to slalom and giant slalom training and competition opportunities through the Minnesota Snow Sports League.
More importantly, they begin developing the habits that make successful racers:
– Showing up ready to work.
– Learning from mistakes.
– Supporting teammates.
– Trusting the process.
The medals can come later. The foundation comes first.
Training Group
Extra Training | More Runs. More Reps. More Confidence.
The Buck Hill Training Group provides high school athletes with additional opportunities to train, improve, and stay sharp throughout the season because extra snow time matters.
Additional gate training creates familiarity, confidence, and consistency that athletes simply can’t replicate anywhere else.
For many racers, the Training Group becomes the difference between hoping for improvement and actively training for it.
Buck Hill Ski Racing Team
The Slalom Factory | Continuing a legendary tradition.
Buck Hill Ski Racing Team has earned a nickname over the years. The Slalom Factory.
For athletes with aspirations of competing at the highest levels, the Buck Hill Ski Racing Team provides access to elite coaching, high-level training, and one of the strongest racing cultures in the country. This is the program that helped shape athletes like Lindsey Vonn, Kristina Koznick, Paula Moltzan, Isaiah Nelson, and countless others.
While Buck Hill has a proud history of developing world-class ski racers, success has always been measured by more than podium finishes. Athletes leave the program with the discipline to pursue ambitious goals, the character to support and inspire their teammates, and the resilience to overcome challenges both on and off the race course.
Trophies and medals may celebrate a moment in time, but the lessons learned through hard work, perseverance, and teamwork remain long after the season ends.
Lessons Beyond the Gates
Parents often enroll their children to become better skiers, but they quickly discover the program offers much more. Athletes build confidence, learn resilience, develop friendships, and gain valuable life skills that extend well beyond the race course.
Registration for Buck Hill’s 2026-2027 Ski Racing Programs is now open. Athletes will leave with lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories, and the confidence to face the challenges throughout their lives.
Every journey begins the same way, with a single turn at Buck Hill.
