As stewards of your winter playground, we want to share the latest on our terrain parks.
Weathering the Storm – A Season of Challenges:
This year, Mother Nature threw us a few curveballs, limiting our ability to open all our beloved parks. Unpredictable weather, including rain over Christmas, forced us to make tough decisions, like temporarily adjusting features in the Redtail Ridge park just to maintain skiable conditions for all our guests.
The constraints on terrain have been tough, affecting the diversity of features we can offer. We understand the importance of providing you with terrain parks that boast proper progressions, ensuring every rider, from beginner to advanced, finds their perfect challenge.

Snowmaking Triumphs and Future Plans:
Thankfully, a recent cold snap has come to our rescue. Our snowmaking team, has been hard at work, overcoming the odds to cover our slopes with new snow and increase the depth of our base. In the next two days, we’ll wrap up snowmaking for the season, and then the real magic begins.
Park Build Updates:
– The Little Jibber park has a recent build as of Thursday, January 18th.
– The Knob park will have new features ready for this weekend starting on Saturday, January 20th.
– The Rail Yard park will see a double jump line next week – exact date TBA
– Our iconic Halfpipe is currently being formed and shaped. The Zaugg pipe cutter will be out refining the halfpipe over the next few days and will open open soon and the snow sets properly. Again, exact opening date TBA.

Diverse Parks, Unique Progressions:
Our commitment to providing diverse experiences remains unwavering. Each park, from The Knob to Rail Yard, has its distinct features, tailored for various skill levels. We try to rotate these features every two weeks, ensuring that every visit brings fresh challenges and excitement.
As we gear up for USASA competitions in the coming weeks, you might find advanced features in typically beginner parks. We believe in pushing boundaries, even during competitions, to showcase the talent of our riders and the versatility of our terrain parks.

Halfpipe Dreaming:
The excitement is building as we embark on the creation of our iconic half pipe. As you read this, Jason Wagner, the expert pipe cutter hailing from Michigan, joins our team for about a week each year to work his magic. Renowned for crafting half pipes around the world, Jason brings unparalleled expertise to elevate our winter haven.
Building any half pipe and getting it set is a labor-intensive process that involves weeks of snowmaking to create the snow mounds and several days to meticulously cut the basic shape of the pipe. What we’re aiming for is a chalky feel, where the snow holds its shape while still allowing riders to grip their edges. Striking the right balance is crucial – if the snow is too soft, the pipe can begin to deteriorate, a risk often associated with natural snow. On the other hand, an icy texture is equally undesirable. Rest assured, our team is working hard to get our halfpipe open for your enjoyment soon.
Looking Ahead – A Winter of Progress:
In the world of terrain parks, progress is the name of the game. We understand that riders crave variety and challenges all season long. Our team is dedicated to evolving our parks, keeping them fresh for both our guests and the incredible staff that tend to them.
As you hit the slopes, remember that our terrain parks are a testament to our commitment to your freestyle enjoyment. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and, most importantly, your passion for the slopes.

A Salute to Our Crew:
Before we sign off, a heartfelt salute to the unsung heroes behind the scenes – Myles Grote, our Terrain Park Manager, Beau Swenson, and our entire Park Crew. These dedicated individuals have poured their heart and soul into making our terrain parks the best they can possibly be. Operating with a small, yet mighty team, this seasons snowmaking has often demanded their attention, leaving little time for the meticulous design, creation, and building of the parks they envisioned at the season’s onset.
As we near the end of snowmaking, our team eagerly anticipates the moment when they can shift gears and bring the hill to life. The passion and commitment they bring to each rail set, jump, park feature are what elevate our terrain parks into the winter wonderlands you love. Here’s to Myles, Beau, and the entire Park Crew – the architects behind the scenes.
