A STYLE GUIDE FOR PROGRESSION
BUCK HILL FREESTYLE PROGRAMS
Every skier and snowboarder has their own style.
Some athletes love the feeling of landing their first jump. Others enjoy learning a new grab, mastering a rail, or finding new lines through the terrain parks. Some want to compete. Others just want to build confidence, learn new skills, and have more fun on snow.
That is what makes freestyle skiing and snowboarding unique. There is no single path to progression.
The Buck Hill Freestyle Programs are designed to help athletes of all ages and abilities develop their skills, build confidence, and express their creativity in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Registration for Buck Hill’s 2026-2027 Freestyle Programs is now open, giving new and returning athletes the opportunity to take their riding to the next level this winter.
Building Skills Through Progression
Freestyle is a lot more than just learning tricks. Before athletes hit bigger features or attempt more advanced maneuvers, they need a strong foundation built on control, confidence, and proper technique. Buck Hill’s Freestyle Programs focus on helping athletes develop skills at the right pace while creating a positive relationship with the terrain park and the sport.
Athletes work on:
– Building strong skiing and snowboarding fundamentals
– Learning terrain park safety and etiquette
– Progressing through jumps, rails, and freestyle features
– Developing balance, creativity, and confidence
– Setting personal goals and celebrating improvement
Every athlete progresses differently. Some riders move quickly through new skills, while others take more time building confidence. Coaches help each athlete identify their goals and provide the instruction and support needed to continue improving.
The goal is not to create riders who all look the same. The goal is to help every rider become the best version of themselves.
Two Programs. One Passion for Freestyle.
Buck Hill offers freestyle opportunities for athletes at different stages of their journey.
Buck Hill X-Team
The Buck Hill X-Team is designed for athletes ages 7-18 who are passionate about freestyle skiing and snowboarding and want to develop their skills in a fun, supportive environment.
The program introduces athletes to terrain park fundamentals, reduced risk progression, and the building blocks needed to become confident freestyle riders.
For athletes who are newer to freestyle, Buck Hill X-Team provides the foundation. For experienced riders, it provides the opportunity to continue improving, learn new tricks, and push their creativity.
Buck Hill Freestyle Team
For athletes looking to take their freestyle skills to a higher level, the Buck Hill Freestyle Team provides advanced coaching, competition opportunities, and a dedicated training environment.
Team athletes work with experienced coaches to refine their technique, develop their personal style, and compete at regional, national, and international levels.
The focus extends beyond tricks and competition. On the Buck Hill Freestyle Team athletes develop discipline, confidence, creativity, and the mindset needed to continue progressing in the sport.
Tricks, and Then Some
Freestyle skiing and snowboarding give athletes a unique opportunity to challenge themselves while expressing who they are.
Every new skill learned builds confidence. Every challenge overcome creates resilience. Every successful landing, especially the ones that took several attempts, reminds athletes that improvement comes from persistence. Parents often sign their athletes up because they want them to learn new skills. They stay because they see the growth that happens along the way.
Freestyle creates a community where athletes encourage each other, celebrate progress, and share a passion for being on snow.
