WHERE FIRST TRICKS BECOME LIFELONG OBSESSIONS
BUCK HILL X-TEAM
Every freestyle skier and snowboarder remembers the moment they learned their first trick.
It might be the first time landing a jump, sliding a rail, grabbing a ski or snowboard in the air, or simply gaining the confidence to try something new. Those early milestones are what make freestyle skiing and snowboarding so exciting.
The Buck Hill X-Team is designed for athletes ages 7-18 who want to develop their freestyle skills in a fun, supportive, and progressive environment. The program provides athletes with the coaching, structure, and community they need to safely improve while building confidence on the mountain.
For parents, getting started in freestyle can sometimes come with questions. Terrain parks, jumps, and new tricks can seem intimidating at first. At Buck Hill, we believe progression starts with proper instruction, strong fundamentals, and coaches who help athletes understand how to challenge themselves responsibly.
Registration for the 2026-2027 Buck Hill X-Team is now open, giving new and returning riders the opportunity to continue growing their skills and passion for freestyle skiing and snowboarding.
Building Skills Through Steady Progression
Freestyle is about creativity and individual expression, but successful progression begins with a strong foundation. Before athletes learn more advanced tricks, they need to develop control, awareness, and confidence in their skiing or snowboarding abilities.
Buck Hill X-Team coaches focus on helping athletes progress at the right pace while creating a positive environment where learning is encouraged and mistakes are part of the process.
Athletes work on:
– Building strong skiing and snowboarding fundamentals
– Learning terrain park safety and etiquette
– Developing confidence on jumps, rails, and freestyle features
– Improving balance, control, and technique
– Setting personal goals and celebrating progress
– Learning how to make smart decisions while riding
Every athlete develops differently. Some riders may be learning their first park skills, while others are working toward more advanced tricks. Coaches provide guidance and feedback that helps each athlete continue improving while maintaining a focus on risk minimization and long-term development.
The goal is not to just teach athletes more tricks. The goal is to help them become confident, capable riders who understand how to progress responsibly.
Learning Tricks, But More
Freestyle teaches athletes lessons that extend beyond the terrain park.
Learning a new skill requires patience, persistence, and the willingness to try again after a mistake. Riders learn how to set goals, overcome challenges, and recognize that improvement comes through practice and commitment.
These lessons are especially important in freestyle, where progression happens one step at a time.
Coaches help athletes understand how to evaluate challenges, make smart choices, and build skills in a way that creates lasting confidence. Parents can feel comfortable knowing their athletes are learning in an environment focused on development, teamwork, and responsible progression.
Beyond the skills, X-Team creates a strong sense of community. Athletes train together, encourage each other, and celebrate milestones throughout the season. The friendships formed through the program often become one of the biggest reasons riders return year after year.
