BEYOND THE TERRAIN PARK

BUCK HILL FREESTYLE TEAM

Freestyle skiing and snowboarding are known for creativity, individuality, and progression. The tricks, jumps, and features may be what people notice first, but successful freestyle athletes are built through much more than what happens in the terrain park and they can find it on the Buck Hill Freestyle Team.

Behind every athlete who lands a new trick or competes at a high level is a commitment to preparation, repetition, and continuous improvement. Freestyle athletes spend countless hours developing technique, building confidence, and learning how to approach challenges responsibly.

The Buck Hill Freestyle Team is designed for athletes who are ready to take their skiing or snowboarding to the next level through advanced coaching, competitive opportunities, and a dedicated training environment. The program helps athletes refine their skills, develop their personal style, and become more complete competitors.

Registration for the 2026-2027 Buck Hill Freestyle Team is now open, giving dedicated freestyle athletes the opportunity to continue progressing while becoming part of one of the Midwest’s most respected freestyle programs.

Developing Skills Through Coaching and Competition

Freestyle progression requires more than learning new tricks. Athletes need strong fundamentals, technical understanding, creativity, and the ability to perform under pressure.

Buck Hill Freestyle Team coaches provide athletes with the instruction and support needed to continue improving at every stage of development. Through focused training sessions, athletes work on refining technique, improving consistency, and preparing for competition opportunities at regional, national, and international levels.

Athletes focus on:

– Developing advanced freestyle skiing and snowboarding skills
– Progressing through jumps, rails, and terrain park features
– Improving technique, control, and confidence
– Preparing for competitive events
– Setting individual goals and creating a path for progression
– Learning how to approach challenges with a growth mindset

Every athlete brings different strengths, goals, and experience levels to the team. Coaches work with each rider individually to identify areas of improvement and help them continue developing in a way that fits their goals.

The focus is not on creating athletes who all ride the same way. The focus is on helping each athlete become the strongest version of themselves.

Building Athletes Beyond the Sport

Freestyle athletes are sometimes viewed as athletes who are simply looking for the next big trick. In reality, successful freestyle skiing and snowboarding require a tremendous amount of discipline.

Athletes must learn how to set goals, manage risk, handle setbacks, and stay committed through the process of improvement. A new trick may take dozens, or even hundreds of attempts before it becomes consistent. That process teaches patience, persistence, and problem-solving.

Those lessons extend well beyond skiing and snowboarding.

Athletes develop confidence by challenging themselves, resilience by working through obstacles, and accountability by taking ownership of their own progression. These qualities help athletes not only become better riders, but also stronger individuals.

The team environment is another important part of the experience. Athletes train together, encourage one another, and celebrate progress throughout the season. The friendships and connections built through the program often become one of the most meaningful parts of being on the team.

Continuing a Freestyle Tradition

Buck Hill has a long history of helping athletes develop their skills and pursue their goals in snow sports. The Freestyle Team continues that tradition by providing athletes with experienced coaching, a positive training environment, and opportunities to compete at higher levels.

Some athletes join with goals of competing at the highest levels of freestyle. Others join because they want to become better riders, challenge themselves, and train alongside others who share their passion.

Every athlete’s journey is different, but the foundation remains the same: commitment, progression, and a love for being on snow.
