A DAY FOR JAKE AT BUCK HILL RECAP
Five months ago, the snowboard community came together at Buck Hill for a heartfelt celebration of a man who shaped the sport and generations of riders, it was A Day for Jake. On Saturday, March 15th, 2025, the hill was buzzing with spring energy; it was alive with legacy, laughter, and a shared love for snowboarding that united groms and OGs alike.
From first-chair to the final toast, this was a day to remember.

Honoring a Legend
Jake Burton Carpenter’s story is the kind of thing snowboard myths are made of: a Vermont barn, a dream, and a deep belief that sideways sliding should be for everyone. That belief still ripples through the sport today and it was front and center on display at Buck Hill. From lapping the Warner’s Way to toasting to Jake at the top of the Lakeside Lift, A Day for Jake was about remembering what snowboarding is really about: fun, freedom, friendship, and a love of the ride.

Group Laps, Good Times, and the People Who Make it Matter
One of the most moving parts of the day came in the afternoon as riders gathered at the top of Warner’s Way for the Group Tribute Ride. There was no single type of snowboarder in that crew just a sea of humans who’ve found something special in this sport. Some had been riding for 30+ years, others were just linking turns on borrowed boards. It didn’t matter. Everyone dropped in together in Jake’s honor, carving turns and high-fiving down the fall line in a way that felt organic, electric, and real.
The toast to Jake at the top? You could feel the emotion. Laughter mixed with gratitude as stories were swapped, boards held high, and smiles stretched across faces of all ages. Snowboarding’s founder might not be with us physically anymore, but his soul, his stoke, was everywhere that afternoon.

A Community That Rides Together
If there’s one thing this throwback reminds us, it’s that snowboarding is so much more than a sport. It’s a community. One that shows up, lifts each other up, and keeps pushing forward just like Jake did. And on March 15th, that community showed up big time at Buck Hill.
From the youngest riders chasing side hits to local legends spinning laps with old friends, this event had something for everyone. Burton’s regional reps Johnny and Corey were on site stoking out attendees and spreading the good word. Shoutout to Billy Perrier for capturing the magic. The photos live on as proof that Jake’s spirit is still shredding.

A Lifelong Sport, A Lifelong Partnership
Burton Snowboards has long been more than just a brand. They’ve been the glue of the snowboard community, creating a space where everyone from park rats to powder hounds can feel at home. Their long-standing partnership with Buck Hill is one we’re proud of. From events like A Day for Jake, to supporting our community with demos, contests, sponsorships, and now, introducing Burton boards and Step-On bindings into the Buck Hill rental fleet for the 2025-2026 winter season, this relationship is helping get more people on snow than ever before.
And that’s the goal, right? To grow the community, keep the stoke alive, and welcome in the next generation of riders. Everyone’s invited. From 7 year olds to 70 year olds who might be dialing in their first carves to perfecting methods, snowboarding is a lifelong journey.

Looking Ahead – Ride With Us This Winter
If you missed A Day for Jake this March, don’t sweat it because details for next season’s event will be coming soon. What matters most is that we keep riding, keep inviting new people into the fold, and keep showing up for one another on and off the hill. When A Day for Jake rolls around again, we hope to see even more riders out there. Vintage boards, new boards, hand-me-downs, Step-Ons; it doesn’t matter what you ride. Just that you ride. Together.
To everyone who came to the A Day for Jake event – thank you for making it unforgettable. To those who couldn’t, we hope this recap brought a little of the magic back to life. And to the next generation of riders: we’ll see you this winter.
Let’s keep the legacy alive. Let’s ride on.
