Spring at Buck Hill means one thing: it’s time for the Pond Skim Party. Join us on Saturday, March 21st for one of the most anticipated spring skiing and snowboarding events in Minnesota. Whether you’re skimming the pond or cheering from the sidelines, this is the ultimate way to celebrate the season.

With pond skimming, skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, live music, great food, and unbeatable deck views from Buck ’54 Bar & Grill, the Pond Skim Party delivers non-stop action and spring vibes all afternoon.

What Is the Buck Hill Pond Skim?

The Pond Skim is a high-energy spring contest where riders attempt to skim across a pond at the base of the hill—without sinking. Speed, style, creativity, and sometimes a spectacular crash all come into play.

• Format: Guaranteed 1 Run (go until last person standing)
• Entry Fee: FREE
• Participant Cap: 150 riders max

• 10:45 AM – 12:15 PM | Registration Check In | Ski School

• 2:45 PM | Rider Meeting | Top of Pond Skim Course

• 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM | Pond Skim Contest Starts

• 3:15 PM | Awards | Base of Pond Skim *Immediately following last run

• 10:45 AM – 11:15 AM: Start/Finish Corral Fencing Setup
• 10:45 AM: Personnel in Place | Registration Opens
• 10:45 AM – 12:15 PM: Registration Check-In | Ski School
• 12:45 PM: All Personnel at Start Corral
• 12:45 PM: Rider Meeting (Top of Pond Skim Course)
• 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Pond Skim Contest
• 3:00 PM – 3:15 PM: Judges Tabulation
• 3:15 PM: Awards Ceremony (Base of Pond Skim – Immediately Following Last Run)
