Film debuts Saturday, October 22 at Twin Cities World Premiere hosted by Buck Hill

Burnsville, MN. (October 14, 2022) – Teton Gravity Research (TGR), the global leader in action and adventure lifestyle media, unveiled the trailer for their newest short film, In Pursuit of Soul 2: Midwest Independence. Inspired by a partnership with Indy Pass, the fastest growing multi-resort ski pass product in North America, and supported by Atomic Skis, this film tells the story of skiers and snowboarders who measure their love for winter not by storm cycles, snow depths or vertical feet. Indeed, this is a community whose connections to their home hills run deep and are steeped in family and friends.

“When I try to recall ski films about the Midwest, sadly, not too many come to mind. Given this lack of attention by the snow sports film industry, we are thrilled that TGR is unveiling this outstanding film about the culture, people, and resorts that make Midwest skiing and riding so special,” said Indy Pass founder, Doug Fish.

Directed by lifelong adventurer, skier and filmmaker Chris Kitchen, and Minnesota-based filmer and founder of Midwestskiers.com, Matthew Zabransky, the film shows a crew of ragtag athletes who explore some of the most under-discussed ski resorts in the midwest, while also trying to find the “unofficial mayor” of each town visited.

In Pursuit of Soul 2 brings to life stories of some of the most unique ski hills in the midwest, including Granite Peak, Lutsen, Caberfae, Buck Hill, Nordic Mountain, Little Switzerland and more. Each visit will offer an exploration into the intricacies that veer from the mainstream attractions which many ski hills present to the public, such as steep terrain, epic pow days and thousands of feet of vertical skiing.

“I think this project sheds a lot of light on the fact that bigger isn’t always better, and there is something to be said about these smaller hills. The Midwest often gets looked at as the ‘flyover states,’ and many are even shocked to find out that we have over 100+ ski areas in this region,” said creative director Matthew Zabransky. “But the fact of the matter is, we have some of the most passionate skiers and snowboarders out there.”

To kick off the film’s release, Buck Hill will be hosting a Twin Cities World Premiere on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. with a double feature of In Pursuit of Soul 2: Midwest Independence and TGR’s newest ski and snowboard film, Magic Hour.

Teton Gravity Research (TGR), the global leader in action and adventure lifestyle media, released its 27th full-length feature film, Magic Hour, in September. Filmed on location in 2022 in the most epic places across North America, Magic Hour takes viewers from Jackson Hole, the Chugach and Coast Mountain ranges in Alaska, to the Selkirk, Purcell, Valhalla, and Kootenay ranges in British Columbia, and Montana.

“Magic Hour isn’t a particular time of day so much as it is these magical moments that we all experience on any given day, playing in some of the wildest places on the planet,” said Todd Jones, co-director of the film and co-founder of TGR. “We captured some of the most amazing skiing and snowboarding action in some of the most beautiful places in the world this past And we can’t wait to share the magic with the world.”

Magic Hour’s star-studded cast will include some of the biggest names in the industry such as Kai Jones, Nick McNutt, Michelle Parker, Jeremy Jones, Tim Durtschi, Parkin Costain, Amy Jane David, Bode Merrill plus a few more familiar friends. The crew of skiers and riders will take you on a journey through next-level terrain in some of the most jaw-dropping spots on the planet just as the sun rises and sets.
